Monthly Archives: March 2009

every day she sat at the picnic table
on her break lazily turning
the pages of her magazine
in the balmy heat of summer days, waiting

until he appeared looking across
the pond flashing his slow cajun smile
behind rising spirals of smoke
resting his fine body against the bricks

she envied those bricks that
touched his olive skin gleaming in the sunlight
feeling the weight and warmth of
his body, scruffy beard and flashing brown eyes

a shiver covered her body as she drank
it all in as heady wine and she knew
in her gut and read in his eyes
that the day was coming

she rambles along
a path of stars
her hair a halo of
static electricity
eyes the color of storm
clouds obscuring the moon

she doesn’t ponder the past
her denial is genuine
and her heart is true
yet she walks in her sleep
and her spirit is coiled into
itself by acquiescence

so her eyes struggle to see
her hair whips her face wildly
her heart thumps like planets
exploding and her spirit stretches
out ever so deliberately

whispering

avenge

The 3 Word Wednesday prompts are:
Avenge
Genuine
Ramble

a careless flick
of a feathered boa into
a face with liquid
laughing almond eyes

her hand flies up to cover
the perfect red O of
her mouth as green eyes
widen in a surprised apology

a chance encounter on a
sunny mardi gras day amidst
crowds of drunken revelers
as beads fall from the sky

a wet kiss is offered to a
bejeweled cheek and then
seeks the red O of her mouth as a
sly hand finds her softness

forgiveness comes with a price
so sweet in a balmy courtyard
on a sun-warmed bed of
ferns with long glossy braids

of black that tickle her shoulders
then her breasts as berry
lips and cafe’ au lait hands
explore her pink and whiteness

smooth brown skin covering hard
muscled limbs hot breath and
strong arms and hard male
urgency parts her pink wet & wanting

as they dance the dance of the
wanton with the smell of sex
floating above their bodies
entwined never to meet again
