Who is Zouxzoux?

I’m Charlotte Hamrick aka Zouxzoux. When I started this blog I wanted to be anonymous (hence the nom de plume) because I was insecure about my writing ability. Now, I’m not so much since my work has been accepted and published in several literary ezines. I’m a big proponent of online zines and publishing because I think keeping up with technology and culture is important and because online publishing offers a fairer playing field with much more diversity.

I’m a writer, observer, listener and amateur photographer. I live in New Orleans, Louisiana where there’s always something happening even when I wish it weren’t because not all things are good.  But most of them are and it’s a fertile environment for a writer and observer.

I don’t believe in regret, guilt or self-recrimination – I do my best which may not be as good as others’ [best] but I’m OK with that.

This website is my playground. It’s where I post my prose and poetry, both good and bad, and some of my photography. Sometimes I post about my day to day life but I usually end up deleting those posts because I want it to be all about the prose and the poetry here. Plus I like to maintain an air of mystery.

My other online spaces include my original blog, Traveling Mermaid, and my group blog, NOLAFemmes. I can be contacted at charlotte dot ash7 at gmail dot com or just leave a message here and I’ll get back to you. Promise.

The image in my header is by  Toni Frissell: Weeki Wachee Spring, Florida, originally published by Harper’s Bazaar in their December 1947 issue.

    Hello,

I’m a student at Tulane University in New Orleans. I’ll be graduating in May with a degree in Media Arts and English (specializing in Internet Public Relations and Creative Writing). Currently I’m learning the ins and outs of Literary Event Management…it’s an internship centered around the Tennessee Williams Festival and promoting campus lecture/reading series within the literary community in New Orleans and beyond.

I thought a great way to go about getting the word out would be to contact bloggers who already have an interest in all things literary, even if they don’t live in New Orleans…some of your readers might!

The purpose of my query is to see if you’d be interested in having me contact you whenever we have a guest speaker coming to campus (Louis Gluck, Salman Rushdie, Timothy Liu, etc)….and then you would post this information on your blog/website. (Example: Poetry Reading: Timothy Liu; Freeman Auditorium @ 7:00pm, follow by reception; FREE to public).

If any of our guest writers are of a personal interest to you, then we can arrange to have them be your guest blogger or do an interview…or have you guest blog for us as an interviewer (note: we will have a blog set up by the end of this week)…the possibilities are endless. I also wanted to know if you allow people to advertise on your blog and if so, how much does it cost?

    Thoughts?

I look forward to your feedback!

    Warm Regards,
    Lyndsey R
