NaPoWriMo Day 11- Napoleon Ave

Find your happy place

______________________________

For about 8 years I was actively under the care of a doctor. I went to his office on Napoleon Ave weekly, sometimes several times a week. After examination or the latest procedure I would wait in his office for him and the revised treatment plan. He had a gargoyle perched on top of a tall bookshelf and I would silently talk to it while I waited. He was a good listener. After the storm (Hurricane Katrina) the doc moved to an office further way (his office building was destroyed) and joined one of those groups of physicians who are employed by a huge healthcare corporation. When I visited him for the first time post-K, the gargoyle wasn’t in his new office. I still see the doc occasionally. I miss the gargoyle.
