NaPoWriMo Day 4

Unseeable, Unheard

Under the bridge river water
swallows soil
slowly
relentlessly
dispassionate steel sucks
whispers and murmurs
voices lost in the lapping
of things not forgotten
people come and go
come and go
release their heartbroken
runes in the earth
stroke sorrowful-eyed faces
graffitied on concrete
crouch low, be invisible
let it all go

Today’s prompt was to write a poem inspired by an image on Space Liminal Bot. Although this image doesn’t seem to be of a bridge, it reminds me of the space under the bridge over the Mississippi near my house. The lights of downtown New Orleans are on the other side, just like in this photo.
